Stop Boosting your Facebook Posts and Use Facebook Ads Manager

Stop Boosting your Facebook Posts and Use Facebook Ads Manager: Boosting your Facebook post is OK, it is easy to use and you can get some good results, however, Facebook Ads Manager gives you so much more control over where your ad is displayed and to whom.

In this article, we look at the differences between the functionality available through your Facebook page ads compared to Facebook Ads Manager.

Facebook Business Page Ads

From your Facebook Business Page, you can “Boost” a post or “Promote” your page. Boosting a post does just that, it allows you to put an ad budget behind an existing post, you can still choose who this is targeted to and their geographical location etc, however Facebook Ads Manager allows you to do so much more. Promoting your page does exactly what it says on the tin, rather than creating an advert for your product or service, this function allows you to build your page following and is designed to get more likes for your page. This isn’t something I recommend – page likes are nice to have but because the views of Business Page Posts are constrained, I would rather place budget behind selling a product or a service rather than growing an audience of people who, even when they like your page, will rarely see the page posts in their news feed.

Facebook Ads Manager

Facebook Ads Manager is directly connected to your Facebook account. You can navigate to your Ads Manager account from your Facebook News Feed view. In the left-hand column, under “Explore” (click view more), there is a link to Ads Manager.

Available through both your Business Page and Ads Manager is the ability to decide on the interests, age and gender of your audience. With Ads Manager you have advanced targeting capabilities, such as “Custom Audiences” and “Lookalike Audiences” as well as increased Creative Options. You can create collection ads, choose visuals specific to each ad placement and use templates to build videos with the Video Creation Kit. These are only a few of the extra choices you’ll find in Ads Manager.

Via Facebook Ads Manager you also have better control and a few more options as to where your ads appear. You can post to Facebook and Instagram through your Business Page, however, with Ads Manager you can also display your ads in the “Audience Network”.

Facebook Says: “With Audience Network, you can extend your Facebook and Instagram campaigns across the Internet onto thousands of other websites and apps. Audience Network ads use the same targeting, auction, delivery and measurement systems as Facebook ads.”

Business Page or Ads Manager?

Creating ads from your Page will give you some great tools, but Ads Manager offers you even more ways to be highly targeted with your advertising campaigns and we all know the more specific and targeted your marketing message is, the more likely you are to see a good return on your investment.
