One of our clients is a beautiful family owned and run, independent hotel set right in the heart of Leicester, The Belmont. The Belmont Hotel boasts a gorgeous restaurant serving great food with innovative menus, stunning individually designed rooms, and bespoke meeting and wedding facilities.

They also believe in the personal touch and have some fabulous packages such as: a ‘shop and stay’ offer with a drop off and pick up service making the most of Leicester shopping, sporting packages including tickets to local sporting events like Leicester races and local rugby and football matches with special room rates, along with special weekly dining offers across the bar and restaurant.

Running great promotional offers is fantastic, but people need to hear about them! We decided with The Belmont Hotel, to take one of these packages and run a competition to win it on Facebook.

The promotional package that we decided to focus on for this promotion, was the ‘Girly Night In’, an overnight stay with lots of goodies like ice-cream, popcorn, DVD’s, wine and chocolates included. Now who wouldn’t want to win that? The results we achieved were fantastic! Within 24 hours, the post had reached 22,577 people, had 306 likes and was shared by 362 people which led to final figures of 48,151 people reached, 545 likes and 657 shares. For those of you used to marketing through Facebook, these figures may not seem particularly impressive, but they were achieved without a budget. The post was not boosted or promoted other than organic reach. It is great when this kind of exposure is achieved organically. We attribute the success of this competition to creating the right graphic, the carefully selected wording and working closely with The Belmont to get a full understanding of the target market.
