The Last Hurdle
Welcome to our tete-a-tete, designed to keep you up to date with all our latest news, views and advice.Personal message from Jules Thomas
So here we are near the end of March already! And what a busy couple of months we have had at The Last Hurdle. Did you know we have moved! Yes, and as expected quite a horrendous experience it was too, however, due to much juggling there was no lack of service for our clients and in fact we gained a couple mid move… timing!
Our other big news, we are currently seeking an apprentice! Thanks to government funding it is a fabulous opportunity to gain, train and mould a potential valuable employee. Imagine, imparting over 15 years of sales and marketing experience, learning all about Networking for Business, Social Media Marketing and Keyword Research. The successful applicant will be shadowing myself and one or more of our other associates. This isn’t a tea making position, this is a years worth of apprenticeship training with Tresham College for business administration and training with us to become a business development specialist. So who do you know, who can commute to Towcester and has the right attitude to become The Last Hurdle apprentice?
Applications can be sent FAO Jules Thomas jules@thelasthurdle.co.uk
Spotlight – Silicon Bullet – Alison Mead (The Sage Lady)
The Last Hurdle spotlights are here to highlight local businesses that are closely connected with or are clients of ours.
This month we are proud to highlight Silicon Bullet and in particular Alison Mead, otherwise known as the sage lady.
Alison says: ’Sage software, training and consultancy has always been a focus area. Whilst starting out as a Sage “Standard Reseller”, Silicon Bullet was quickly accepted as a Sage “Authorised Dealer”. The benefits of this enhanced relationship are many and provide a key part of our growth plans. Networking leads and marketing the use of Silicon Bullet by Accounting companies to provide valued-add IT Services to their clients is driving the growth of the Sage product sales and training.
More recently Silicon Bullet has become an ACT! Accredited dealer through Sage, in order to enhance our service offering and to ensure we give our customers the best range of services possible.
We maintain our Sage 50 Accounts, Payroll and ACT! accreditation as each new version is released by sitting courses and exams set by Sage.’

Having hosted a very popular guest blog on our website, we can see just how popular our local Sage lady is and specifically how valued and desirable the Sage training is.

Social Media Engagement
When utilising social media for business, it’s all about the engagement, the interaction and

building those new relationships, I am sure you will agree.
However, with alarmingly increasing frequency I am often pointed to a different social media site. The culprit seems to be mainly on Twitter. I counted 7x automated direct messages the other day, all asking me to go to Facebook to connect and see what’s going on… but I am here right now? If you want to engage with me here I am!
